Proposal to Bring Amtrak Train to Rockland, Maine Delayed

A pilot project to bring the Amtrak Downeaster Service to Rockland during summer weekends is moving forward slowly.

The Coastal Connection pilot project would extend the Downeaster train run from Brunswick to Rockland with station stops in Bath, Wiscasset and Newcastle on Friday night and have two or three trips a day on Saturday and Sunday during the tourist season. The longest time the train would be idling on the tracks in Rockland is one hour on weekend afternoons.
