Opinion: Improved passenger rail important

This week Bob Myers, city manager for the City of Newton, was given five minutes to testify in front of the Joint Legislative Transportation Vision Task Force during a day-long meeting at the Meridian Center.

Myers, like others from other cities, spoke about highway projects that are either needed or needing to be preserved. During his time, he spoke specifically about the need for a new interchange between U.S. 50 and Meridian Avenue. He also spoke about the need to keep a project to improve the interchange of 36th Street and I-135 in the approved state — ready to move forward if industry begins to build in the Kansas Logistics Park.
