New York Senator Charles Schumer: Amtrak needs to be ‘flexible’ in talks with MTA to make West Side access plan a reality

U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer pushed Amtrak to “be more flexible” in its negotiations with the MTA to make Penn Station Access Project a reality. 

It would give Westchester Metro-North train riders access to Manhattan’s West Side through the Bronx and includes repairs to the East River Tunnels, which were damaged by floodwaters during Hurricane Sandy. The senator said he secured the $500 million needed to complete the repairs.
