New York City’s Grand Central Train Shed Project May Take 20 Years, Report Says

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — The Metropolitan Transit Authority is getting ready to launch a construction project at Grand Central Terminal that could take at least two decades to finish, according to reports.

A $2 billion project to reconstruct sections of Grand Central Terminal’s train shed — the underground structure that houses all the tracks and platforms at the Midtown Manhattan transit hub — is scheduled to begin in May, the Wall Street Journal reported. The train shed contains 86 different tracks that service about 700 Metro-North Railroad trains per day.
