New York City: Won’t any company adopt a subway station?

In July 2017, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that for $600,000, a donor could participate in an “adopt-a-station” program that would fund amenities such as Wi-Fi and station cleaning. And $250,000 would buy a spot on a “partnership council” that would help raise money for improvements. Naming rights would come with the larger donation only.

Fifteen months later, Politico reported, not a single company or individual has taken the governor’s offer.
