Infrastructure push will hit familiar roadblocks in new Congress

—All 41 railroads required by law to implement positive train control either met the New Year’s Eve deadline to install the automatic-braking technology or qualify for a two-year extension. But with only four railroads reporting full implementation, the rest have a ways to go to meet the PTC mandate before 2020. Keeping an eye on that process will be another priority for transportation leaders in Congress this year.
