Illinois: Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce representative says no timetable on passenger rail service to Chicago

By Aarik Woods, OurQuadCities.com; March 14, 2018

People in Quad Cities have been waiting for train service to Chicago for years now.

Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce Vice President of Military Affairs Jason Gordon joined us to talk more about where progress is as far as making that happen. The Illinois Department of Transportation reached agreement with the Federal Railroad Administration at the end of September 2017 to extend the Chicago-Quad Cities passenger rail service grant until June 30, 2018. The extension allows IDOT to continue working with the Iowa Interstate Railroad on preliminary engineering studies. These studies will determine the full scope of improvements necessary to facilitate passenger trains between Wyanet and Moline. The timeline for the overall project really can’t be determined until those studies mentioned are completed. For more on what lies ahead and how it will benefit the area, see our full interview with Jason Gordon above.
