El Paso, Infrastructure phase of $97 million Downtown streetcar project months ahead of schedule

The key component of the $97 million Downtown streetcar project — which has caused headaches for El Paso commuters in the area —  is nearing completion ahead of schedule.

Officials said the infrastructure — the largest part of the project that includes groundwork and the installation of tracks and the overhead cable suspension system along the 4.8-mile route — should be completed before Thanksgiving.
