Deadly S.C. Amtrak crash unlikely to deter riders, experts say

 

The deadly collision Sunday of an Amtrak passenger train and an unmanned freight train in Cayce is unlikely to shake consumer confidence in American rail service, experts say, as Amtrak’s ridership is hitting a record high.

The Miami-bound passenger train was traveling along the wrong track when it barreled into a stationary CSX freight train early Sunday morning, killing two Amtrak employees and injuring 116 others.
