Amtrak says Hiawatha ridership is up; Glenview, Illinois claims train cars are still under capacity

While Amtrak officials earlier this month touted increased 2018 ridership on the the Hiawatha line — which stops in Glenview, village officials reiterated their belief that the line is under-used.

In a March 11 news release, Amtrak officials said that 2018 was the highest ridership year for the Hiawatha line, with more than 858,000 passengers recorded. The 2018 ridership increased by 3.6 percent from 2017 ridership, according to the release.
