Amtrak ridership in Iowa falls, but advocates still hope for Des Moines passenger train

Amtrak ridership in Iowa is on a downward skid at the same time the passenger rail service is setting revenue records nationally with its best operating performance in company history.

But Iowa passenger railroad advocates remain hopeful that Amtrak service will eventually be expanded across the state’s midsection to Iowa City, Des Moines and Omaha.
