Amtrak considering bus service instead of Southwest Chief

 

Amtrak is considering ending passenger train service between Dodge City and Albuquerque, turning that leg of the famous Southwest Chief passenger train into a long bus ride instead.

“If Amtrak succeeds in turning that into bus service, it won’t be long until they’ve stopped the train, too,” said Pueblo County Commissioner Sal Pace, who serves on the Southwest Chief & Front Range Passenger Rail Commission.
